Where the Peruvian Amazon forest begins, the Yanesha Indian community has always lived in harmony with Mother Earth. However, its environment is now threatened by deforestation.
For this reason, we support the community with reforestation projects and the creation of organic school gardens to ensure that the younger generations are aware of the issues of protecting biodiversity and do not leave the community but rather ensure its survival for future generations.
Direct beneficiaries: 373 students aged 3 to 16 years; 27 teachers; 280 parents; 30 producers from the Native Community of Tsachopen. All the people involved live inside the Oxapampa Asháninka Yánesha Biosphere Reserve.
Indirect beneficiaries: 500 people among the communities involved.
Objectives of the project: to strengthen the agro-ecological production of organic school gardens in order to improve children’s nutrition and promote environmental protection through reforestation, implementation of agro-ecological and agroforestry techniques, enhancement of local products and awareness of the communities to respect the environment.
