Healthy childhood in the Maya Kiché communities of Totonicapán
The project involves four indigenous communities (Pamaria, Pabaquit, San Luis Sibilia, Arroyo San Juan) that are part of the municipality of Santa Lucia La Reforma, located in the department of Totonicapán, Guatemala, which is situated at 1,900 meters above sea level.
The communities live in hard-to-reach places and have access to few services, especially health services.
These areas are characterised by high levels of poverty, malnutrition (especially among children) and social exclusion.
From the historic partnership with Flos, a renowned design lighting company, and from the meeting with our local partner CDRO, the project “Healthy childhood in the Mayan communities of Kiché Totonicapán” was born with the aim of ensuring specialized pediatric care to the more than 2,800 children, aged between 0 and 10 years, access to pediatric medicines for their families and providing the necessary equipment to the four local clinics in order to provide appropriate care.
